The Steps for How to Make the Easy Christmas Crafts: Five Point Wooden Star:
Cut the five pieces of string or yarn. I used #10 crochet yarn.
Each piece should be 10 to 12 inches long and will be used to tie the endpoints together.
Cross two of the wooden skewers 1 1/2 inches from their ends to form the upper portion of an "A" shape.
Add the third skewer across the first two less than halfway down the shape.
For larger stars, weave the skewers as you add them to insure the Easy Christmas Crafts Five Point Wooden Star stays together when finished.
Smaller stars, where the wooden pieces are too short to allow weaving, will require glue at the points in the picture shown after we complete this larger star.
The third skewer goes across under the left wooden skewer and over the right wooden skewer. At the top the left wooden skewer is under the right.
Each skewer alternates under and over the other two.
Add the fourth skewer. Again, alternate the over and under pattern to weave the wooden pieces together.
Add the fifth skewer making sure all of the skewers alternate over and under.
Place the five pieces of yarn under the five crossed endpoints of the star.
Bring the yarn around each of the crossed points and tie a simple knot to hold the endpoints initially.
At each point, wrap the yarn vertically and horizontally around the crossed wooden skewers.
Tie the yarn securely.
Trim the yarn from each of the points of the Easy Christmas Crafts Five Point Wooden Star.
With the weaving of the wooden skewers, the yarn is all that is needed to hold this Easy Christmas Crafts Five Point Wooden Star together.
For smaller versions, glue is needed at the star's inner points as shown by the arrows in the next picture.
This smaller star was made with the wooden skewers cut into six-inch lengths.
At that length, this wood was too firm to be woven.
Without glue at the star's inner points, the upper "A frame" pulls away from the lower section.
