The Steps for How to Make the Easy Christmas Crafts: Paper Nutcracker Soldier:
For Option 1, print the Paper Nutcracker Soldier pattern on matte presentation paper. I used 48 lb. Brochure and Flyer paper. (Options 2 and 3 different steps are described below Option 1.)
Cut around the pattern shapes.
Punch holes where the white circles are on the pattern pieces.
Push thread through the holes in one boot and in the bottom of one leg.
Lap the thread 3 to 4 times through the holes.
Position the boot in front of the leg.
Tie a knot in the thread ends.
Clip the thread ends.
The left leg and left boot are now connected.
Using the same process, connect the remaining joints.
For the different connections:
> Cap overlaps head
> Head is behind top of red jacket
> Top of arms overlap jacket
> Hands overlap arms
> Legs overlap jacket
> Boots overlap legs
Thread the ends of the yarn through the two holes at the top of the cap.
Tie the yarn ends into a knot to form the loop.
This fun little paper nutcracker soldier is finished and ready for small hands to play with him, to hang as a decoration or to add some whimsy for a smile or two.
For Option 2, print the pattern in color on regular paper.
Glue the paper to light-weight poster board.
Let the glue dry.
Then, follow the steps for Option 1.
Option 3 uses four different colors of construction paper.
Print the pattern on regular printer paper.
Cut around the shapes outside the lines.
Glue the cap and boots to black construction paper.
Glue the legs to blue construction paper.
Glue the jacket and arms to red construction paper.
Glue the head and hands to tan construction paper.
Let the glue dry.
Then, follow the steps for Option 1.
You can also add eyes and nutcracker teeth with a pen or pencil.
