The Steps for How to Make the Easy Christmas Crafts: Pleated 8-Point Star:

Print the Pleated 8-Point Star pattern on the paper of your choice. Or, you can print the pattern and use the shapes as patterns on another paper such as gift wrap.

Cut out the eight "house" shapes and the circle.
Begin making the accordion folds.

First, fold in half with the "right" side out.

Next, fold the edges in half toward the middle valley fold.

Then, fold the edges back to form the accordion folds.

The finished fold on the right has the "right" side up showing the mountain folds from the middle outwards.
Fold all eight shapes the same way with the right side having the mountain folds beginning in the middle outwards.
On the "right" side, place a 1/4 (.25) inch stripe of glue along the straight edge.
Re-fold the edge and place a binder clip to hold until the glue dries.
Continue gluing all eight of the folded shapes.
Place glue on the folded up outer edge of one shape.

Position that shape alongside another matching edges.

Use a binder clip to hold the edges until the glue dries.
Continue gluing the edges together until the shapes form a star.

The last seam will pull. It's good to have another binder clip to help hold that seam together better.
Place a generous amount of glue on the circle.
Carefully turn the star shape with its binder clips over.

Place the glued circle on the center back of the star.
Turn the star shape right side up.

Place a weight, in this case scissors, to hold the back of the star into the glue on the circle while the glue dries..
After the glue dries, remove the binder clips.
The Pleated 8-Point Star Box is finished and ready to display.
Here are several versions.

Across the top is orange 24-pound paper, white 20-pound paper and yellow 20-pound paper.

At the left bottom is a silver foil gift wrap paper. On the right is blue 20-pound paper.

Anything heavier than 24-pound would be difficult to fold.
This project can become a hanging ornament with the addition of a small yarn loop.

Or, with a little more glue, it can become a pretty addition to a wrapped gift.

The colors and choices are many!

The Pleated 8-Point Star is a fun project for any time of the year.
