How to fold a six-point star from hexagons

This easy paper crafts project takes a little time to learn, but once you know the steps, it’s very simple to do.

Take a look at these pretty easy paper crafts six point stars made from folding paper hexagons:

Here’s a close-up view of the gold six-point star made with the steps on the Easy Paper Crafts Six Point Star page.

One caution, you need to be careful with your measurements. The project doesn’t require perfection, but if the lines or angles are off by much, the resulting star will show the problems.

Don’t let that scare you. The easy paper crafts six point star is simple once you do one or two or three.

Plus, they make pretty decorations any time of the year – hanging in a window, added to a gift, given to a child for a job well done, or any other application you can think about.

Easy Paper Crafts – Pocket Calendar

Happy New Year!

I know, I know, it’s more than two weeks beyond the new year, but happy new  year, anyway!

The project’s idea stems from a friend who always buys a pocket calendar each year. She likes to put important reminders and information she needs in the calendar’s pocket. When she no longer needs the information it either gets filed or thrown away.

I’ve been thinking of how I could make a similar yet easy and inexpensive pocket calendar. While working on some non-crafty tasks, I started designing the project in my head.

My initial thoughts about how to make the pocket calendar were more complex, but I like this simpler version of an easy paper crafts pocket calendar much better.

It’s simple. It’s inexpensive. Most important, it’s fun and easy.

Let’s take a look. (Please excuse the fingerprints. I should’ve cleaned the refrigerator door before taking the picture.)

The materials and tools are inexpensive and the steps easy. And, if you prefer more embellishments, there is plenty of room.

A simple and pretty Folded Christmas Tree

Paper doilies provide versatile and easy Christmas decorations. Take a look at the new Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament we just added to the web site.

Whether you make the smaller version with its colored edge or the larger version with its contrasting paper accents, they are both easy, fun and fast to do.

A four-inch paper doily makes a small, sweet little folded Christmas tree to add as a decoration on your Christmas tree.

A six-inch paper doily makes a slightly larger decoration and adds an accent with its contrasting paper backing.

But, these pretty little decorations can be used in other ways too.

They are so fast and so easy, you could make a garland of these folded Christmas trees to hang above a fireplace, along a chair rail, in an open doorway or anywhere a pretty little garland would add a Christmas highlight.

These simple decorations could also be used on gifts as a gift tag or as an additional little gift on the outside of a package.

Though simple, you can vary the colors to make different versions.

Both the young and young-at-heart can enjoy making these fast and easy ornaments.

Take a look at our Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Folded Christmas Tree Ornament page to see the materials and tools along with the steps to make the two different versions of the ornament.

Have fun and be creative!

A Paper Circles Ornament

This Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Circles Ornament can be made quickly, easily and inexpensively.

This example was made with decorative card stock, but the Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Circles Ornament would be just as pretty made with contruction paper or color tinted paper.

This pretty little ornament would also be a great project for children to color.

Our examples are simple and pretty, but the project lends itself to other embellishments such as beads and charms.

You can find the list of materials, tools and the detailed instructions on our main site: Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Circles Ornament. We provide step-by-step pictures to show how the ornament is made, too.

A Fun & Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Cone Ornament

This simple-to-do Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Cone Ornament takes just a few minutes from start to finish.

This version (my favorite) used an 8-inch paper doily, green ribbon and corresponding green candies.

On the Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Cone Ornament page we show the materials and tools (simple and inexpensive) along with the easy steps for making this pretty little ornament.

Our examples were made using 8-inch and 10-inch white paper doilies, but you could easily use gold and silver doilies and larger doilies as well. Smaller doilies do not work as well as the cones become too small to hold anything – though 6-inch could hold one or two candies.

Of course, this Easy Christmas Crafts Paper Doily Cone Ornament can also hold small gifts that can be hidden among the upper branches of the Christmas tree. They can also hold other types of gifts – promissory notes – which we discussed in yesterday’s post.

These pretty little paper doily cones could also be made to hold party favors for guests at a holiday party. A special tree for party favors could be set up for guests to select. Or, with the addition of a place card, the paper cone ornaments can be added to the place settings at a dinner party.

Remember, gifts and party favors do not need to be expensive to be meaningful.

Get creative and have fun!

Gifts from the heart in ornaments

The news today claims the traditional holiday shopping weekend after the Thanksgiving holiday last week saw an increase in the retail sales over the last couple of years. It will be interesting to see if the same holds true for today’s Cyber Monday sales on the internet.

Regardless, many people still struggle with their finances in these tough economic times and struggle with how to buy holiday gifts for all of the people on their list this year.

Handmade gifts are nice. We offer several different projects on our main www.funEZcrafts.com site for fun and interesting gifts.

But, perhaps in addition to lack of discretionary funds, you lack the time to make gifts for everyone on your holiday list.

Have you though of gifting your skills and time to help your family and friends? Maybe you think you don’t have skills that people on your list need. In many cases, it’s not always a skill someone needs. Your time and efforts helping them do a task they can’t do by themselves or helping them do something that needs to be done but they’ve put off would be very much appreciated.

It’s simple to gift your time and efforts. You can write a promissory note – either by hand or on your computer – and wrap it in a gift box.

Or, you can add the gift as a decoration on the tree.

We have several ornaments that would be easy to make and add to the tree with a promissory note inside.

Our Paper Doily Greeting Card Ornament could just as easily include a note with your promise of time and effort.

Another easy ornament, the Paper Basket Cone Ornament, would also hold a rolled promissory note.

A similar version made of felt can be used instead.

Children, young and not-so-young, can get into the spirit of the season by making these ornaments and adding their own promises as gifts. They could have fun making the ornaments while they learn the spirit of giving and the responsibility of following through on their promises.

Some examples of children’s promises:

  • I promise to do my assigned chores without having to be prompted for three months
  • I promise to write Grandma and Grandpa once a week for six months
  • I promise to wash the car ten times
  • I promise to prepare dinner once a week for six weeks

The list is endless and should be applicable to each child’s abilities and the family’s interests and needs. The promise should be worthwhile and not something they would be doing anyway.

On an adult scale, the promises could be doing tasks for someone, going somewhere with someone, and they can even be risque between consenting adults!

Don’t let the holidays become stressful. Use them to be creative and to give gifts worth more than money can buy to the recipients on your list!
