Frugal Fun Projects - Decorate with
Color

Do you like to have color in your home? Maybe you want to add a splash of color to a drab corner. Here are some
inexpensive examples you can use to generate your own ideas on how to decorate with color.
Take a simple container and add colorful stones. The stones can be the same color and type or a mixture of
colors along with mix of natural and manmade materials. Or, you can add the stones as an accent around
another object.
The stones can be the inexpensive glass marbles, round or flattened, or real stones found in the floral
area of your hobby or discount stores. Another option is add naturally tumbled stone collected from hikes nears
streams and waterways (provided taking the stones is not prohibited).
For another natural element, add interesting pine cones, dried moss and feathers. Mother nature always provides
interesting elements for our enjoyment.

The Steps for How to Decorate with Color:
Let's look at a few of the simple and inexpensive materials:

The first example is a favorite with a simple, inexpensive floral vase filled with favorite
colors. The blues and greens of the stones pull out the color of Mr. Rockwell's shirt in his
self portrait. Plus, the colorful stones - in this case, flattened marbles - add a pop of color and shine
to a corner that is otherwise not colorfully interesting.

The next example includes a smaller, still inexpensive, vase. This time the colorful stones are
seashell shapes made of glass. Several strands of raffia tied in a simple bow add further interest to
this bathroom shelf.

Or, you can add the colorful stones around another object. Here, blue, flattened glass marbles accent a white
candle. The candle is in a clear glass chimney inside the hurricane container.

A similar example uses simulated, broken and tumbled sea glass around a blue candle.

If you prefer a more natural look, a wooden bowl filled with a mix of natural stone and colorful marbles makes
an interesting decoration.

Another example, this time natural and colorful stones sit in a carved wooden basket.

Perhaps instead you have some interesting pottery bowls. Add colorful stones to the bowl for an inexpensive
and different centerpiece.

To decorate with color, look to the containers you already have and add a few colorful stones and natural
elements. The containers do not need to be fancy. Instead, simple and interesting vases and bowls highlight
the colors and draw the eye.
Enjoy!
